As part of St Patrick’s Festival and Tourism Ireland’s 2023 St Patrick’s Day Parade, Patrick Duffy will be in Ireland. His grandfather immigrated from Ireland to the United States in the 1920s and has always held significant pride in his Irish heritage. He also celebrates his birthday on March 17 and is named after St Patrick!
In 1949, Patrick Duffy, the son of tavern owners Marie and Terence Duffy, got his big break in the movie ‘Man From Atlantis’ before becoming a worldwide star as Bobby Ewing in the CBS prime-time soap opera Dallas. In addition, Patrick starred in seven seasons of the popular sitcom “Step by Step”.
Thousands of international visitors from Ireland’s global diaspora of more than 80 million make the trip to Ireland with Patrick to reconnect with their roots, taste Irish arts and culture, and experience one of the world’s truly unique experiences on the streets of Dublin.
Talking of his role as International Guest of Honour, Patrick Duffy said: “Nothing gives me more pride than being asked to be guest of honour at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin. I can feel my grandfather’s joy in my returning to his homeland to represent the Duffy’s and express our gratitude for all this great country has given us. I feel like I am returning home and want to meet my extended family.”
